The postage stamp year 1952 of the Deutsche Post of the German Democratic Republic comprises 24 special stamps - a slight increase in the number of stamps (1951: 18 values) - and 15 definitive stamps . 4 values had a surcharge between 3 and 10 pfennigs , a total of 0.29 marks . In 1952, as in the previous year, no block appeared . A total of 32 motifs were issued by the post office.
The values were printed on paper with the watermark No. 1 ( Kreuzblume ) until August, then on paper with the watermark No. 2 ( GDR and Posthorn ).
The unlimited special stamps available at the post office counters could z. Some can only be used until January 31, 1953, but most of them until December 31, 1953. The edition for the National Development Program in Berlin did not lose its validity until June 30, 1955 - probably to promote the sale of these surcharges.
The definitive stamps were valid longer; it ended between February 28, 1954 and March 31, 1962. The Pieck value of 2 DM could even be used for postal purposes until October 2, 1990.
particularities
- Special stamps
The trade fair edition, which is now in its third year, was dedicated to the autumn trade fair in 1952 with a motif on heavy machinery construction. The series was also continued on Stamp Day with a value of 24 Pfennig. Other editions paid tribute to famous composers, including Ludwig van Beethoven , who died 125 years ago, and famous personalities from science, literature and art. For the first time in a series that appeared until 1957, a stamp for the International Peace Tour was issued in May 1952, after the second GDR winter sports championships in Oberhof at the beginning of the year brought sport motifs into the brand image.
- Definitive stamps
In this year, the Wilhelm Pieck definitive series was supplemented with a value of 5 Pfennig; Another 3 values appeared again, now with the watermark No. 2. In addition, from September without a special issue date, 11 values (so-called Heads II edition ) of the series Personalities from Politics, Art and Science, already published in the Soviet occupation zone in 1948 with a different watermark, were released brought to the counters with postage levels complementary to the Pieck series .
