Fred Gravenhorst

Fred Gravenhorst (born October 21, 1896 in Hanover , † January 7, 1977 in Kiel ) was a German graphic artist.

Alfred (Fred) Gravenhorst studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, after which he worked as a freelance graphic designer. From 1945 to 1958 he taught at the master school for arts and crafts in Berlin. He designed books for publishers in the Soviet Zone and the GDR and was among other things through the design of the stamps of the first GDR permanent series with the portrait of President Wilhelm Pieck and the series Tag der Briefmarken (GDR) in the years 1949 , 1950 , 1951 and 1952 known.
