The postage stamp year 1970 of the Deutsche Post of the German Democratic Republic comprised 77 individual special stamps , three stamp blocks with one special stamp each and a mini sheet with six special stamps. Eleven postage stamps were printed together; there were two pairs with an interior decorative field. A definitive stamp was issued that year. A total of 97 motifs were issued.

The face value with surcharges for all issues was 23.90 marks .

All postage stamp issues since 1964 as well as the 2- mark values ​​of the definitive series President Wilhelm Pieck and the definitive series of State Council Chairman Walter Ulbricht , published since 1961, originally had unlimited postage validity . With the reunification after October 2, 1990, all brands lost their validity.

Oddities

This year's editions contain two typographical errors:

• In the inscription on the block for the 25th anniversary of the liberation an anti-fascist oath is reproduced. The repeatedly repeated "WE SWORN" is printed in one case as " WE SWORN ".
• The broadcast anniversary stamp contains the incorrect spelling " RADIO BERLIN INTERNATIAONAL ".
