It was donated in 1955 on the occasion of the ten-year existence of the FDGB and expanded to include the gold level in 1972 and the bronze level in 1977.
Award
The awards took place on June 15, the day the FDGB was founded, and on October 7, the day the GDR was founded . The award was made by the Presidium of the Federal Executive Committee of the FDGB or on its behalf.
The medal was awarded for many years of service in trade union work and outstanding achievements in the development of the socialist trade union movement. It was also awarded on the occasion of a 60th, 65th, 70th and 75th birthday or a 50-, 60- and 70-year membership in the trade union movement.
With the medal, trade unionists from the GDR, but also international trade unionists, could be honored once. The medal was presented with a certificate .
The Fritz Heckert banner was awarded to deserving collectives in the socialist competition.
Bonuses
The bonuses were 5,000 M for the gold level, 2,500 M for the silver level and 1,000 M for the bronze level.
