Heinrich Allmeroth

Heinrich Allmeroth (born March 9, 1901 in Knickhagen , Hofgeismar district , † October 18, 1961 in Dresden ) was a German opera singer (tenor), director and politician. He was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR

Life

After attending grammar school in Göttingen and Frankfurt, the teacher's son Heinrich Allmeroth studied economics and did his doctorate on the economic development of the Eschwege district since the 19th century. During his studies in 1921 he became a member of the Strasbourg fraternity Arminia , which was then based in Frankfurt and later moved to Tübingen. After completing his doctorate, he studied singing in Kassel and received engagements as first tenor at various theaters in Göttingen, Halle, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Darmstadt, Stuttgart and Leipzig. As early as 1931, Allmeroth was involved in a union and until 1933 he held the office of chairman of the Cooperative of German Stage Members at the Hessian State Theater in Darmstadt.

After the end of the war, Allmeroth received an engagement at the Metropol-Theater in Berlin. In 1949 he first went to Leipzig as artistic director, but in the same year he moved to Rostock and remained there in the same position until 1952. He then received an offer from the German State Opera in Berlin, where he acted as deputy director until 1954. After that, Allmeroth went to the Dresden State Theater , where he then worked as general director.

The non-party Allmeroth became a member of the FDGB and the Kulturbund after the war , for which he took over the office of chairman in the Rostock district during his engagement in the port city from 1950 to 1952. At the same time, the FDGB won him over in 1950 to represent the union as a member of the People's Chamber. Allmeroth also represented the FDGB in the People's Chamber in the second electoral period from 1954 to 1958. In 1953 he was elected honorary chairman of the central board of the art union in the FDGB and thus also became a member of the union's national board. He held both offices until 1959. In his function as Dresden General Director, Allmeroth was a member of the artistic and scientific advisory board at the Ministry of Culture and was a member of the SED district leadership in Dresden.

Allmeroth died in Dresden in 1961 and was buried in the Tolkewitz urn grove .

His stage repertoire included a. the following roles: "Tamino" in the Magic Flute , "Edgar" in Vampyr by Heinrich Marschner, "Lyonel" in Flotow's Martha , "Count Almaviva" in the Barbier of Seville by Rossini, "Wilhelm Meister" in Mignon by A. Thomas, "Alfredo "In La Traviata ," Alvaro "in La forza del destino and the eponymous hero in Don Carlos by Verdi," Rodolfo "in Puccini's La Bohème ," Pinkerton "in Madame Butterfly and" Palestrina "in the opera of the same name by Hans Pfitzner .
