Gerhard Voigt (born March 7, 1926 in Halle (Saale) ; † August 13, 2005 there ) was a German graphic artist . He was Vice President of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR .

Life

Voigt passed his Abitur in Berlin in 1944 and completed an apprenticeship as a sign painter in 1945/1946. From 1946 to 1949 he studied at the art school and in the workshops of the city of Halle with Walter Funkat . From 1946 to 1949 he studied at the College of Industrial Design in Halle, Burg Giebichenstein . Voigt joined the NDPD in 1948 . Between 1949 and 1952 he headed the graphic studios of the traffic and advertising office in Halle (Saale). From 1952 to 1977 he was a freelance commercial artist in Halle (Saale). From 1968 he was Vice President of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR .

From 1977 he was department head and from 1978 to 1991 professor for commercial graphics at the University of Industrial Design in Halle, Burg Giebichenstein in Halle (Saale).
