Sara Riffel

Sara Riffel (born June 1, 1977 in Rüdersdorf ) is a German translator . She is the wife of Hannes Riffel , who also works as a translator.

Life

Sara Riffel studied American studies, English and cultural studies at the Free University and the Humboldt University in Berlin with a master's degree. From 2002 to 2006 she worked as a research assistant at the John F. Kennedy Institute of the Free University of Berlin. During her studies she started translating from English. Since then she has been working as a freelance literary and non-fiction translator for Piper, Heyne, Quadriga and Klett-Cotta, among others. From the beginning of 2007 to the end of 2015 she worked as a program consultant and freelance editor for Egmont LYX.

Awards and honors

In 2009 she received the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis in the category Best Translation for her transmission of the novel Blindflug by Peter Watts .
