The Buchhorn castle ruin is an abandoned hilltop castle at 463.4  m above sea level. NN on the northwest spur of the north summit of the small Adelberg / Buchhorn mountain, which protrudes from the chain of Limpurger mountains to the west and is separated from them by the valley of the Adelbach . The castle site is surrounded by a few scattered homesteads in the community of Michelbach an der Bilz in the Schwäbisch Hall district in Baden-Württemberg , partly below the slope, partly on top of the mountain, which together are also called Buchhorn. A house stands directly in front of one of the neck ditches.

The castle was protected in the southeast by two ditches and ramparts and on the other three sides by mostly steep slopes. The neck ditches and ramparts as well as traces of the terrain are still preserved from the former castle complex.
