The Burgbach stone is a Outbound hilltop castle at 383.3  m above sea level. NN at the top of the mountain edge to Kochertal two kilometers west of today's district Döttingen of the community Braunsbach in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle was founded in 1250 by a family of lower nobility with the surname Bacho (probably Staufer Ministeriale ) attested from 1225 to the 16th century . The builder was probably Walther Bacho von Döttingen . They called themselves Bachenstein from 1251 and were the local lords of Döttingen . Members of this knightly noble family were also citizens of Hall and wealthy in the vicinity of the imperial city ( Wasserburg Altenhausen , Teurershof ).

In 1488 the already destroyed castle with Döttingen was sold to Hohenlohe . The castle was probably the predecessor of the moated castle in Döttingen, which later became Döttingen Castle .

The castle stable shows only two large moats and small remains of the wall.
