The castle Brettheim , even Brettheim Burg called, is a Outbound hilltop castle , possibly a moth (motte), on a 435 m above sea level. NN high hill on the southern edge of the district Brettheim of the municipality Rot am See in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg .
Presumably the castle was built by the Lords of Brettheim, named between 1251 and 1444, as a Staufer fiefdom , came to wealthy Rothenburg citizens in the middle of the 15th century and certainly no longer existed at the beginning of the Peasants' War.
The castle, whose existence is still indicated by names such as “Burggraben”, “Burgebauer” and “Burgemichel”, was a stable stone house surrounded by ramparts and moats .
