The moated castle Kottspiel is a lost moated castle in a bend in the river Bühler , north of the center of Kottspiel , a district of the municipality Bühlertann in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg .
Geographical location
The Burgstall lies in the soft patch of Kottspiel in the backyard between a row of houses in the hamlet “Im Burggraben” in the south and the river in the east and north. Right on the south side of the complex, a new residential building is currently (May 2011), of which the shell is already in place. A grass path runs around them on the east and north sides.
history
The moated castle was built by the Lords of Kottspiel in the 13th century and abandoned in the middle of the 14th century.
description
Only small remains of the former castle complex have survived. Clearly visible in the terrain is a rectangular depression about 50 meters in diameter, which is slightly longer in the north-south direction than perpendicular to it. Its inner slopes are well developed, with the exception of some on the west side. On the east side, a flat dam rises less than a meter above the surrounding terrain. In the middle is a flat hill. The height differences on the site do not exceed 2 meters.
Todays use
There are a few fruit trees on the site, mainly in a chain of gaps that roughly marks its contour. Otherwise it will be mowed as a meadow today.
