The Castle Rechenberg than originally castle Rechenberg designates a Staufer TIMELINESS castle on Mühlweiher above the Rechberger red on a lead in Rechenberg , in the municipality of Stimpfach in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Wuerttemberg .
From 1953 to summer 2018 it was used as a youth hostel . It is currently for sale by the Baden-Württemberg Youth Hostel Association (DJH).
The castle was probably completed in 1227. In 1538 it was structurally expanded and supplemented by Heinrich Steinhäuser and, after the expansion, was henceforth called a castle , as was often the case in the 16th century.
description
The complex consists of a palace , the south building erected in 1571 and the well-preserved curtain wall with the defense towers. The overall condition of the facility is well preserved. The floor plan corresponds to that of a moated castle . It is surrounded by a neck ditch which is still very well preserved towards the place. The castle is accessed today via a stone bridge. It is believed that the entrance used to be made of wood and had a drawbridge . The castle is surrounded by a ring wall, on the southwest side of which there is a round defensive tower on the north side, another smaller one. The south building leans against the large defense tower. The hall is in the eastern part of the castle. This consists of a stone ground floor with two upper floors. This was later extended by a half-timbered floor with a steep roof. There is space for three more floors in the roof.
history
Built before 1229, it was first mentioned in a document in 1229. In the period from 1229 and 1405 which are Knights of Rechenberg demonstrated the Stewards and vassals of the counts of Oettingen were. The computing Berg had as other castles, the eponymous castle Rechenberg in the district Ostheim the municipality Westheim at Hohentrüdingen in Middle Franconia, the parties Limburg and the castle Wilburg , both in Wilburgstetten
After it was sold to the burgraves of Nuremberg , it was sold to the aristocratic family Wollmershausen in 1409 , who then received the reigns of Rechenberg von Ellwangen as a fief in 1429 . In the 15th century it was owned by the Adelmann family and was bought back by Ellwangen in 1526. Part of the rule was then transferred to the stone houses of Neidenfels as a fief.
In 1538 the emperor granted the privilege of high court . In this context, Heinrich Steinhäuser von Neidenfels zu Rechenberg began converting the Bug into a castle in the same year. In 1571, the still existing southern building was built. After the line of stone houses had expired in 1608, the allodial parts fell to the heirs of the Berlichingen zu Neunstetten and the fiefdom fell back to Ellwangen. After the original Ellwang rule, it later passed into Ansbach rule. In 1796 it came under Prussian rule, which was transferred to Bavaria in 1806 and Württemberg in 1810 .
In 1953 a youth hostel opened at the castle called the castle. The facility was then bought by the youth hostel association in 1966.
