The castle praise Hausen is the residue of a hilltop castle on the ridge Schlossberg at 412.6  m above sea level. NN , the village at the southern foot of the greater part Praise Hausen of the city Kirchberg an der Jagst in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg is located.

Geographical location

The castle is located on the high eastern end of an elongated old circular mountain of the Jagst , which left an old valley bed about 20 - 30 meters below the castle at the foot of its south-western slope and now flows over 50 meters below it northeast at the foot of the mountain.

history

The castle was built in the 12th century by the Counts of Lobenhausen (Edle von Lobenhausen, 1085–1344) and mentioned in 1295. In 1525 the castle was partially destroyed in the Peasants' War and rebuilt after 1525. In the meantime, the castle was also owned by the Lords of Hohenlohe . In 1645, during the Thirty Years' War , the castle was looted and again partially destroyed. The castle fell into disrepair in the 18th century.

Small remnants of the curtain wall of the former castle complex have been preserved, built into a farmhouse. The castle chapel was built on to the south on the curtain wall .
