Daniel de Barac (born December 30, 1954 ) is a German painter and sculptor .

Life

After graduating from school, the artist studied in Yugoslavia from 1974 to 1980 and completed his studies with a degree in clothing design. Study trips undertaken during his studies took him between 1974 and 1980 to Italy, France, Yugoslavia and Russia. At this time various galleries became aware of the young artist and made possible the first exhibitions. In 1985 de Barac came to Germany as a freelance artist and worked in a studio community in Krefeld with Joseph Beuys , Maria Küppers and Ferdinand Bahnen, among others . In the following years his artistic work and exhibitions took him to Nettetal , Düsseldorf , Berlin and Mönchengladbach . Since 2001 he has been working and teaching in his own studio in Mönchengladbach.

De Barac's painting is representational painting whose aim is not to depict the representational world. In a critical and satirical way, the artist deals with his environment, with himself, the past and the present. In terms of content, his subject is broad and includes debates on biblical topics such as in his 'Prophets' series as well as current topics such as in the works ' Amy Winehouse ', ' Karl Lagerfeld ' or 'Top Model'.
