In the monastery forest
The nature reserve Im Klosterforst is located south of the Wasserstraße district of the city of Petershagen and between the federal highway 482 and the state border with Lower Saxony . The area is around 33 hectares and is listed under the number MI-057.
By placing it under protection, the near-natural source areas and streams are to be preserved and their importance for the natural balance developed. It is also important for the nature reserve to preserve the alder forest and the remaining raised bog . In order to protect and optimize these biotopes , structured forest edges must be created. A high proportion of dead wood is desirable.
