The nature reserve barrage Schlüsselburg is a 268.76-hectare nature reserve in the town of Petershagen in the Minden-Lübbecke .

Classification

The nature reserve is listed under the number MI-014. In addition, the Schlüsselburg barrage is the designation for a part of the wetland of international importance according to the Ramsar Convention "Schluesselburg Weser Barrier" and is an FFH area . The nature reserve lies on both sides next to the Weser . It covers an area of ​​5.5 kilometers south of the barrage and varies in width. In addition to the approximately 130-meter-wide section of the river, the nature reserve also includes extensive marshland areas. The protection was placed among other things to preserve important habitats and habitats of rare and endangered animal and plant species. The river, which flows slowly because of the barrage, is an important wintering place for numerous Nordic duck and geese birds.
