Baltus pit

The nature reserve Grube Baltus is located in a large bend in the Weser on the left bank of the Weser, west of the Hävern district of the city of Petershagen . The area is around 62.7 hectares and is officially designated as MI-022.

Goal of protection

The purpose of the protection is the preservation and creation of communities and habitats of certain wild plants and wild animal species, in particular as breeding, moulting , resting and wintering areas for water birds and waders ,

In connection with the adjacent Weseraue nature reserve, the Baltus pit as a core nature reserve is part of the European EU bird sanctuary " Weseraue ".
