history

According to one story, the name Wasserstraße was created by the stagecoach who came from Leese and always had to go through the unpaved so-called dark street. Since this path was always very muddy, and there was often water on it, the stagecoach is said to have always said, "If only I had only been through this waterway" . This saying is said to have given the village its name.

On January 1, 1963, the municipality of Wasserstraße was formed from the district of Schluesselburg to the right of the Weser.
