Ovenstädt is a district of Petershagen in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia .
geography
It is north of the city center; in the east Ovenstädt borders on the Weser (opposite is the district Windheim ) and the district Hävern , in the north and west on the district of Nienburg in Lower Saxony and in the south on the districts Eldagsen and Petershagen .
history
Until the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1973, Ovenstädt was an independent municipality with a total area of approx. 6.37 km² and 1326 inhabitants (December 31, 1972) and belonged to the Petershagen office in the Minden district .
politics
The population of Ovenstädt has been represented to the council and administration of the city of Petershagen since 1973 by a local mayor who is elected by the council of the city of Petershagen on the basis of the election result.
The local mayor is Wolfgang Koopmann (CDU).
Culture and sights
- The Gernheim glassworks is a location of the Westphalian Industrial Museum . Lying on the steep bank of the Weser, the glassworks was at times one of the most important factories in northwest Germany . It was used for production from 1812 to 1877. After decades of restoration, the museum opened on November 7, 1998.
- The church was first mentioned in 1204. Between 1204 and 1810 it was under the patronage of St. Mauritius Monastery (Minden) . The parish of Ovenstädt is made up of areas from two federal states.

In Ovenstädt there are a large number of associations with different orientations. The sports clubs include the TuS Petershagen-Ovenstädt and the riding, driving and breeding club Ovenstädt eV The volunteer fire brigade is also organized as an association in Ovenstädt. In addition, there is the Carnival Association , the Kyffhäuser and Rifle Club, a Petershagen-Ovenstädt Reservist Club and the Böllerschützenverein - IR 15.
