Windheim is a district of the city of Petershagen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke .

geography

Windheim lies northeast of the city ​​center of Petershagen on the right bank of the Weser ; in the east Windheim borders on the districts of Ilse and Döhren , in the north (separated by the Weser) on the district of Hävern , in the west, also separated by the Weser, on the district of Ovenstädt and in the south on the district of Jössen .

history

The date of foundation is certainly before 1318. In that year, the nobleman Wedekind von Berge left the Gografschaft zu Windheim to Count Otto von Hoya according to a pledge deed. The transfer did not end until 1512 with the transition to the diocese of Minden . In the Middle Ages , Windheim was also the seat of a goat court at times . Market rights for Windheim have been known as " Winthemere kerckmisse " since 1548 . Two annual markets (spring and autumn) are still held today.

Windheim is known as the "old center on the Weser" and for its stork nests. The nature reserve of the Weser floodplain is located directly on site.

  • The Westphalian Stork Museum is located in the listed building Windheim No 2 .
  • The Weser ferry PetraSolara is the only solar ferry in North Rhine-Westphalia and is operated by the Hävern ferry association from April to October. The first documentary mention of a ferry at this point comes from 1548.

Windheim is the depot . Trains do not stop here to get on and off.
