Evangelical Church Windheim
The Evangelical Church in the Petershagen district of Windheim is the parish church of the Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Windheim, which belongs to the Minden parish of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia . It is counted under the " Weserkirchen ".
The core of the Romanesque church building dates back to the 13th century and was expanded in the 18th century .
Building history and architecture
The church was built in the Romanesque style in the early 13th century as a two-bay hall church with a west tower and a square, slightly indented east choir . On the north side of the choir is a sacristy , the date of which is unknown.
In 1769, the church was expanded in the late Baroque style: a square yoke to the north and south was added to the east yoke like a transept. Since then, the floor plan has appeared cross-shaped, the eastern yoke represents the crossing . The pointed tower spire dates from 1858.
In the Romanesque part there is a dome-like groin vault , partly with keystones , in the baroque extension wooden vaults and in the sacristy barrel vaults . The belt arches are round in the crossing and in the choir , pointed in the ship's yoke .
The windows in the tower are pointed arches, otherwise they are extended flat arches. The sound holes are three-part pointed arches in round blind arches . There are flat arched entrances on the cross wings and pointed arched entrances on the tower and nave.
Interior
One of the oldest existing art objects is the late Gothic winged altar , which was made in the early 16th century and shows thirteen carved scenes of the Passion . The sacrament house in the east wall of the choir is also Gothic .
The style of the Renaissance shows the octagonal, chalice-shaped baptismal font from the late 16th century and two twelve-armed bronze chandeliers from 1648. The pulpit dates from the 17th century .
