A blind arch (rarely also blind arch ) is an arch on a wall that cannot be passed through. It is a typical architectural feature of the Romanesque . It has less of a static meaning, but mainly serves to structure facades aesthetically.

If there are several blind arches next to each other, one also speaks of blind arcades . With a blind arch frieze , the wall is usually structured by upstream pilaster strips , half-columns or pilasters.
