The architectural and art monuments of Westphalia
The architectural and art monuments of Westphalia is a book series that was published by Albert Ludorff (1848-1915) on behalf of the Westphalia Provincial Association (under Governor August Overweg ) as a fundamental inventory for the districts of the Westphalia province . The volumes contain, among other things, a detailed introduction to local history , photographs and floor plans.
Ludorff was commissioned to do this in 1888 and began publishing them in 1893. Wilhelm Rave and Otto Gaul were among the later contributors . The series was initially completed in 1957 with 47 volumes and continued with new additions by the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association.
The forerunner was The Art and History Monuments of the Province of Westphalia (Volume 1: District Hamm, 1881; Volume 2: District Warendorf, 1886) by Joseph Bernhard Nordhoff .
