Provincial Association of the Province of Westphalia
The Provincial Association of the Province of Westphalia was a municipal provincial association for the Prussian province of Westphalia . Its self-government powers were based on the provincial order of August 1, 1886.
Its tasks included rural poor people, welfare institutions for the blind, deaf, dumb and mentally ill, construction and maintenance of state roads, promotion of art and science as well as the library system and maintenance of monuments.
Its organs were the provincial parliament , the provincial committee and the provincial director ( provincial governor since 1889 ).
In 1933 he was brought into line. The British military government confirmed it on June 6, 1945. With Decree No. 46 of August 23, 1946, the province of Westphalia was incorporated into the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . From October 1, 1953, the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe continued its tasks with fewer competencies .
