Neuenknick is a district of Petershagen in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia .

geography

It is located northeast of the core city ; in the east Neuenknick borders the town of Rehburg-Loccum in the Nienburg district in Lower Saxony , in the north on the district of Seelenfeld , in the west on the district of Döhren and in the south on the districts of Ilse and Rosenhagen .

Neuenknick is on federal highway 482 .

history

Until the municipal reorganization on 1 January 1973 and was Neuenknick km² an independent municipality with a total area of approximately 11.43 966 inhabitants (31 December 1972) and belonged to the Office Windheim to Lahde in Minden . Neuenknick had 854 inhabitants on December 31, 2008.

The population of Neuenknick has been represented to the council and administration of the city of Petershagen since 1973 by a local mayor who is elected by the city council of Petershagen on the basis of the election results. Local mayor is Stefan Wiesinger (CDU).

Culture and sights

Post mill Neuenknick

Neuenknick with its mill is a location on the Westphalian Mühlenstraße and a destination on the mill route .

The Neuenknick post mill was built in Warmsen in 1747 . It has been preserved in its original design. At the beginning of 1899 the mill was sold for 600 thalers, dismantled and transported to Neuenknick on wagons. In addition to a large shot tunnel, two other smaller grinding tunnels were set up that could be powered by a crude oil engine or wind. After a damage, the mill was operated with only two blades at times. The grinding aisles were expanded in the early 1980s.

Boulder forest

The Lindenau Speedway Stadium is the home of SC Neuenknick. Teams of the SC drive in the first and second speedway national league. Until 1979 there was a dirt track here. In 1981 the speedway track was inaugurated. An average of 5,000 visitors come to the races. A record crowd was 12,000 spectators. In 2006 a team from SC Neuenknick reached 3rd place in the 1st Speedway Bundesliga.

More than 2000 boulders have been collected in the boulder forest since 1976.

The Neuenknick cultural community coordinates the dates of the numerous Neuenknick clubs.

The Neuenknick Motorsport Club has been organizing international motorcycle speedway races on its 357 m long speedway track in the Lindenau Stadium, which is also known as the Hexenkessel, since the 1970s. In the 1990s the MSC Neuenknick started very successfully in the 1st Speedway Bundesliga. In the 1980s, the audience often had an audience of 8,000 to 12,000.
