Location of Bierde in Petershagen

Bierde is a district of Petershagen and is located on the mill route in the Minden-Lübbecke mill district .

geography

Bierde is east of the city center . In the east, Bierde borders on the Lower Saxony district of Schaumburg and the district of Raderhorst , in the north on Ilserheide and Gorspen-Vahlsen , in the west on the district of Lahde and in the south on the district of Quetzen .

history

Until the municipal reorganization on 1 January 1973 Bierde was an independent municipality with a total area of 8.35 km 2 and 629 inhabitants (31 December 1972) and belonged to the Office Windheim to Lahde in Minden . Bierde had 621 inhabitants on December 31, 2011.

politics

The population of Bierde has been represented to the council and administration of the city of Petershagen since 1973 by a mayor who is elected by the council of the city of Petershagen on the basis of the election result. Currently (2013) Frieda Höltke is the head of the village.

Culture and sights

  • The Wallholländer (windmill) in Bierde was built in 1802 . There are some special shapes on this mill: On the one hand, the straight wooden octagon from the ground to the top; a simpler construction than the otherwise tapered effort body, which dissipates the wind better and reduces the dynamic pressure on the wings. On the other hand, the mill is equipped with new louvre blades, which are not controlled with a pierced blade shaft, but rather by a Hecht blind controller, which is very rare in the mill circle, an indication of a subsequent change in the blade type.
There is also the Eichast fork made into the wind rose buck. The mill's gearbox is not yet functional, so the blades rotate without load.
  • The steam mill is housed in a building next to the windmill. The building offered much more space and could be powered by the new energy steam. This mill worked until 1990, at the end for its own use.
  • In the far east of the old town center there is an approx. 600 year old elm that is listed as a natural monument .
  • A nesting aid for white storks was set up in 2004, but, apart from short annual visits, the animals have not yet accepted it. Another nesting aid was added in February 2011. This was approved in mid-April. Despite brooding for 30 days, the young did not hatch.

Economy and Infrastructure

Companies

Trade and economy have almost completely withdrawn from the village and can now be found in the neighboring village of Lahde . There is a kindergarten, a restored windmill, a large indoor riding arena and a few old farmhouses in the old, almost unchanged town center. In the direction of the district of Lahde lies the Bierderloh development area.

societies

The Bierde cultural community coordinates the dates of the numerous local associations.

traffic

In 2004/2005 the village was connected to the L770 , which crosses the Minden-Lübbecke district from west to east. A small biotope was created as part of the road construction . The straightened river Gehle runs through the village, bordered on both sides by the Gehle meadows. On a private initiative, a redevelopment of the old Gehlefurt in the old town center of Bierde was included in the landscape plan in 2002, but has not yet been carried out.
