history

Lahde was first mentioned in a document in 1168, but excavations carried out in 2005 indicate a settlement that has existed since the 8th century.

In 1265 a Dominican convent was founded here by the Dominican monastery in Minden and the Minden bishop , but it was relocated to Lemgo, 30 km away, in 1306 because of disputes with the noble lords of the mountains , whose possessions Lahde belonged to. The former monastery and parish church, which was later rebuilt many times, was only demolished at the end of the 19th century.

During the Nazi era, there was a Lahde labor education camp in Lahde from 1943 to 1945 . The prisoners were used to build the power station. The atrocities are commemorated with a memorial stone at the former location and a burial ground between Lahde and Bierde .

Until the municipal reorganization on 1 January 1973 and was Lahde km² an independent municipality with a total of around 6.67 2,557 inhabitants (31 December 1972) and belonged to the Office Windheim to Lahde in Minden . Lahde had 3540 inhabitants on December 31, 2008 and has seen an enormous increase in population since the regional reform.
