Gerhard Ludvig Lahde
Gerhard Ludvig Lahde (born October 19, 1765 in Bremen , † November 30, 1833 in Copenhagen ) was a German-Danish engraver .
Gerhard Ludwig Lahde was a son of the Bremen master tailor Johann Friedrich Lahde and his wife Catharina Margarethe Drucker. He began an apprenticeship with a goldsmith in Kiel , where he met the painter Claudius Ditlev Fritzsch of the same age and went to Copenhagen with him in 1786. Here he came into contact with the academy and turned to engraving.
In 1792 Lahde took Danish citizenship; In 1799 he was appointed court copper engraver. He bought a house in Copenhagen and proved to be a good businessman in selling his own engravings, but also works by younger artists such as Johan Heinrich Senn or Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg .
Lahde was first married to Charlotte Dorothea Eleonore Werner (baptized February 19, 1777 in Grabow , † 1803); In 1820 he married Marie Taanum, née Larsen (1789–1876).
Gerhard Ludvig Lahde died as a result of a stroke .
