The major road 770 (L 770) is a national road in Minden-Lübbecke in North Rhine-Westphalia . It has a total length of 49.6 kilometers.

course

The L 770 runs from the state border with Lower Saxony near Sundern past Espelkamp and Petershagen to Bierde , where it meets the state road 772 . At Espelkamp it crosses state road 557 , which is a well-developed state road that leads via Bünde and Enger to Bielefeld . As an eastern extension, a subordinate road continues to Wiedensahl and meets the Lower Saxony state road 372 . The western extension of the road to Bohmte - and thus to federal road 51 to Osnabrück - forms state road 81 . The L 770 crosses several federal highways : the B 239 at Espelkamp , the B 61 at Petershagen and the B 482 at Lahde . In the North Rhine-Westphalian section to the west of the B 482, the road has exceptionally wide lanes and a wide verge, in Lower Saxony and east of the B 482, on the other hand, it is narrow and without verges.

meaning

The L 770 and its extensions are an important regional road connection between Osnabrück and Hanover . It is used on this route as an alternative to the A 30 and A 2 motorways that run parallel to the south of it .

The L 770 does not pass through any village on the entire route. It thus acts as a bypass road for several places .

history

The construction of the route took place gradually. The Weser Bridge near Petershagen , which is part of the route today, was built in 1970 . In the 1980s, the line was then built in a westerly direction. It was not until the second half of the 2000s that the long-planned expansion to the east, including the extension just beyond the Lower Saxony border, took place. Originally, a connection deeper to Lower Saxony in the direction of Hanover was planned.

Oddities

At Lahde the L770 runs on an elevated route, so that driveways had to be built. When the road was continued to the east, a house on the Lahde-Ost driveway was completely enclosed in a small space by the roads involved.

There are four bridges spanning the road along the entire length of the L770. Only locally important access roads lead over these bridges.
