Lobenhausen is a part of the city of Kirchberg an der Jagst , which until its incorporation on March 1, 1972 belonged to the independent municipality of Gaggstatt and is now a residential district of the Kirchberg village of Gaggstatt. The Lobenhauser Mühle also belongs to the hamlet .

Lobenhausen is about 2.5 km to the south-east from the town center of Kirchberg and is the last place to live before the municipality border with Crailsheim .
Most of Lobenhausen's houses stand on the south-western foot of an old mountain of the Jagst , which on this side left a loop of valley about 20 m above today's river level. A remnant of the former Lobenhausen Castle , of which a Romanesque castle chapel (St. Johannes) has been preserved, occupies the eastern spur of the Umlaufberg. At the foot of the northeast slope, directly on the Jagst, is the Lobenhauser Mühle, which belongs to the village and is still used today for grinding.
From Erkenbrechtshausen in the south, the Grundbach has dug a gorge into the surrounding plateau, it flows east of the Umlaufberg, in the initial part of the abandoned valley basin, against the old direction of the river into the Jagst. In the outflowing part of the Mulde, the Herboldshauser Bach runs from the eponymous Kirchberg village Herboldshausen to the mill and river.

The L 1041 Crailsheim – Erkenbrechtshausen – Kirchberg runs through Lobenhausen from southeast to northwest. A communal road coming from Crailsheim-Triensbach in the south and then leading over the mill to Kirchberg-Mistlau in the north cuts the state road in the local area.
