Michelbach an der Bilz is a municipality in the Schwäbisch Hall district in the Franconian north-east of Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Geographical location

Michelbach an der Bilz is located on the edge of the Limpurger Mountains 5 km south of the district town of Schwäbisch Hall . The community has a share in the natural areas of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains and Hohenloher-Haller Ebene . The eponymous Michelbach, which emerges on its eastern edge and gives rise to its name, moves through the main village west to the nearby Kocher .

The municipality of Michelbach an der Bilz includes the villages Michelbach an der Bilz, Gschlachtenbretzingen , Hirschfelden and Rauhenbretzingen, the hamlets of Buchhorn , the Einkorn and Neumühle farms and the Wilhelmsglück train station, Burgbretzingen, Engelsburg, Hagenhof, Steinbrück and Ziegelhütte villages, as well as the Adelbacher Wirtshaus , Berwinkel, Kohlhäu , Kohlhofen, Lobingsforst and Sarlachen.

Economy and Infrastructure

Michelbach used to have a train station (Wilhelmsglück) on the Waiblingen – Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental railway line , but it has now been closed to passenger traffic and has been dismantled as an alternative junction . The closest train station is now Schwäbisch Hall - Hessental . There is currently a reloading station for excavated earth from the Stuttgart 21 rail project, which is used to backfill the Wilhelmsglück limestone quarry.
