Karl Sträb

Karl Sträb (born November 4, 1858 in Murrhardt ; † June 6, 1939 in Gschlachtenbretzingen ) was an elementary school teacher in Michelbach an der Bilz and rent official of the princes of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg . In addition to his work at the Michelbach School, in the Loan Association and in music associations, he has also made a name for himself as a local historian. He was made an honorary citizen of Michelbach in 1924.

Life

He was the son of a shepherd from Murrhardt, attended the teacher training college in Eßlingen am Neckar and found his first teaching position in Althütte , where he married Rösle Elser, the daughter of Schöllhütter Kronenwirt. In 1887, through the election of the patron saint Ernst von Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg, he came to the Protestant elementary school in Michelbach an der Bilz, where he taught for 37 years until he retired. In addition to being a teacher, he also took part in community life as organist and conductor of the church and funeral choir, as co-founder and chairman of the supervisory board of the local loan association and as head of the singing department of the warrior association.

From 1888 on, Sträb was also the rent agent of the princes of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg, was in charge of the princely possessions around Michelbach and was able to study the old files on the history of Michelbach and the Limpurg rule in the archives of the Limpurgian-Sontheim office in Michelbach in Michelbach Castle. He published his historical findings in the local supplement of the Kocherbote as well as in the two writings If Stones could speak and Fates of the Imperial Counties of Limpurg in the Napoleonic Wars .

At the start of his retirement, Karl Sträb was made an honorary citizen of Michelbach on May 31, 1924. He spent his retirement in Gschlachtenbretzingen.
