Postage stamps issued in 1979 by the Deutsche Bundespost
The postage stamp year 1979 of the Deutsche Bundespost comprised 32 special stamps . This year eight definitive stamps from the Castles and Palaces and Industry and Technology series were issued, but seven of these definitive stamps belong to the 1978 vintage. The stamp for "Stamp Day" (Michel no. 1023) is a specialty, which deviating from the standard was issued in miniature sheets of ten with a special text print on the upper horizontal margin, although the stamps could certainly be purchased individually. On January 1, 1979 the postage fees were increased, e.g. B. the standard letter from 50 to 60 Pfennig, so that more and more 60 Pfennig values were issued.
All postage stamps issued since January 1, 1969 had unlimited postage validity , there was no longer an expiration date as in previous years. With the introduction of the euro as a common European currency on January 1, 2002, this regulation became obsolete. However, the stamps of this year could be used until June 30, 2002. An exchange was possible until September 30th in the branches of the Deutsche Post , after that until June 30th, 2003 centrally in the Philately branch of Deutsche Post AG in Frankfurt.
