Old toy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Old toys were a charity stamp series of the Deutsche Bundespost from 1968 to 1972. It replaced the previous charity series Märchen . Similar stamps with the inscription "Deutsche Bundespost Berlin" were issued by the Landespostdirektion Berlin . The series was replaced in 1973 by the musical instruments welfare series.

In contrast to the previous fairy tale series, there were no issues with the same motif, but mutually complementary stamps from the Bundespost and the Landespostdirektion Berlin.

The stamps were designed either by Heinz Schillinger (born in 1968, 1969, 1971 and 1972) or by Erna de Vries (1970). Both artists were also awarded the contract to design the Christmas stamps in the respective years, compare Christmas stamps from the German Federal Post Office and Christmas stamps from the German Federal Post Office Berlin . These Christmas stamps from 1969 to 1971 correspond to the respective welfare stamps.

validity

The two years 1968 (Bundespost) and 1968 (Bundespost Berlin) were the last years that had an expiry date for the postage validity for postage stamps. All subsequent issues were postage-free without restriction. The stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost Berlin lost their validity after the reunification on December 31, 1991. All other stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost after the introduction of the euro.

With the introduction of the euro as a common European currency on January 1, 2002, this regulation became obsolete. These stamps and all subsequent editions could be used until June 30, 2002. An exchange was possible until September 30th in the branches of the Deutsche Post , after that until June 30th, 2003 centrally in the Philately branch of Deutsche Post AG in Frankfurt.
