Bruno K. Wiese

Bruno Karl Wiese (born April 7, 1922 in Berlin ; † August 10, 2011 in Hamburg ) was a German graphic designer .

From 1945 to 1949 Bruno K. Wiese studied at the State University of Fine Arts in Berlin . In Professor OHW Hadank's class , he met his future wife Ruth. After graduating, Wiese and his wife initially worked in Hadank's atelier for commercial graphics in Hamburg, before they both founded their own visual design studio in Hamburg in 1954. Wiese designed trademarks, product packaging (especially for the cigarette industry) and special postage stamps (including two for the United Nations) and won numerous competitions, such as B. 1975 the competition to design the logo of the German Aerospace Society. In 1971 and 1982 he was invited to design the corporate design, especially the poster, for the Kieler Woche . From 1980 to 1987, Wiese held a professorship for communication design at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences (today Muthesius Academy of Art ). Wiese lived and worked in Hamburg until his death.

Wiese was a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) (since 1974), the Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI), the Deutscher Werkbund (DWB) and the Federation of German Graphic Designers (BDG).
