Association Typographique Internationale
The Association Typographique Internationale ( ATypI ) is an international typographic society headquartered in West New York , New Jersey.
history
The non-profit organization was originally founded in 1957 by type manufacturers (type foundry ) with the aim of holding an annual main meeting and serving as a network for the typographic community. The culture, tradition and history of writing and typography should be preserved.
In the 1980s and 90s, independent type designers and typographers joined society. Today, ATypI is made up of members of the typographic community, in particular type designers, representatives of the foundries , graphic designers and typographers from 40 nations.

The conferences took place in Reykjavík (2011), Dublin (2010), Mexico City (2009), St. Petersburg (2008) and Brighton (2007), previous events in Paris (1989, 1974, 1967, 1960, 1959) , San Francisco (1994), Berlin (1983) and Lausanne (1957).
Every four or five years, ATypI awards the Prix Charles Peignot for Excellence in Type Design to a type designer who is younger than 35 and who has made an outstanding contribution to type design .
