2 euro commemorative coins

Belgian version of the
2007 Euro 2 commemorative coin issue

In March 2007, a joint issue of 2 euro commemorative coins was published on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome , with an inscription in the respective national language (in Latin on the Belgian coin). It was issued by all 13 EU countries that issue the euro. The coins with the same motif, which represent the contract of the six founders and the place of signing, Campidoglio Square in Rome , differ only in the respective country name and the language of the inscription.

In January 2009 16 euro countries (but not Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City) issued another joint 2 euro commemorative coin on the subject of European Economic and Monetary Union 1999–2009 . Only the abbreviation of the contract name in the respective national language and the country name distinguish the national coin variants.

In January 2012, a third joint issue followed, now from 17 issuing countries, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the introduction of euro cash . The coins with the same motif with the inscription 2002–2012 differ only in the respective country names (Belgium chose the abbreviation BE ).

The fourth joint edition followed in August 2015, now from 19 issuing countries, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the EU flag .

For the year 2022, the Council of the European Union has decided to publish a fifth joint edition on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus program .

Publishing

The European History Book can be used as an example of a joint edition in the publishing industry . This appeared in various European publishers. The first edition appeared in 1992 under the title Histoire de l'Europe by Hachette-Verlag in Paris . The German-language edition was published in the same year by Ernst-Klett-Verlag in Stuttgart . Other publishers who published the work in one of their respective national languages were, for example, Weidenfeld & Nicolson in London , Wydawnictwa Szkolne i Pedagogiczne in Warsaw or Minerva Editora in Coimbra . Apart from the linguistic differences, the editions have the same content due to the shared trans-European authorship.
