Sulcorebutia heliosoides is a species of plant in the genus Sulcorebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The species name expresses the similarity to Rebutia heliosa , from which it however differs significantly.

description

Sulcorebutia heliosoides usually grows individually and rarely forms side shoots with age. The flat, spherical, light green body reaches a diameter of up to 35 millimeters (rarely up to 40 millimeters) and remains flat in nature. It has a beet root that is up to 8 centimeters long and divided several times. The delicate humps are 3 millimeters long, 2 millimeters wide and less than 1 millimeter high. The line-shaped, narrow, white areoles are 2 millimeters long and 0.5 millimeters wide at the top. They taper downwards. The delicate up to 25 thorns are 1.5 millimeters long, straight or slightly curved and lie in a comb shape on the body. They cover it almost completely and appear white, rarely yellowish or brownish with a dark brown base.

The buds appear spirally in 2 to 3 rows from the lower areoles on the plant body. The flowers have a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. The 25 to 40  petals are dark yellow (rarely light yellow) in color. The outer bracts have red tips, the flower tube and its scales are also reddish. The pen is bright yellow, the stamens in yellow.

The seeds are 0.7 to 0.9 by 0.9 to 1.1 millimeters small and strongly keeled dorsally. The germ pore (micropyle) emerges clearly.

distribution

Sulcorebutia heliosoides is distributed in the Bolivian department of Chuquisaca , in the province of Zudáñez , north of Sopachuy at altitudes of 2350 to 2550 meters. The plants grow on weathered silicate sandstone . It is associated with Sulcorebutia crispata and Sulcorebutia hertusii .
