German Philatelist Day

The German Philatelist Day is a philatelic event - originally a one-day event, now lasting several days - that takes place in different locations. The German Philatelist Day has been organized by the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten (BdPh) since 1947, and before that by its respective predecessor association. It took place annually until 2011; In 2011, a two-year cycle was set.

Philatelic exhibitions, specialist conferences by BdPh working groups, presentations of philatelic literature and honors to deserving philatelists usually take place there. There are also philatelic dealer stands, information from Deutsche Post AG about philatelic news and a supporting program, for example with city tours.

history

The Philatelists Day was born on August 18, 1889 in Mainz. On the initiative of the philatelist Lieutenant Colonel Hans Wagner , 50 philatelists a. a. from Munich, Dresden, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt to transform the regional Rhenish Philatelist Day into the national German Philatelist Day. The aim of the founding members was unrestricted exchange among philatelists.
