Joshua "Josh" Kelly (* 7. March 1994 in Sunderland , Tyne and Wear ) is an English professional boxer in the welterweight division .

Amateur career

Kelly was British Junior Champion in 2010 and British Junior Champion in 2012. In his first major international competition, he won a bronze medal at the World Youth Championships in Yerevan in 2012 .

In the elite class, he was English champion in 2013 and runner-up in 2014. He also won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Games in Baku . At the 2015 World Championships in Doha , he was only eliminated in the quarter-finals against Mohammed Rabii .

At the World Olympic Qualifier 2016 in Baku he reached the semi-finals and then took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Danijar Jeleussinow .

Professional career

He made his professional debut on April 15, 2017 in Glasgow . In March 2018 he defeated Carlos Amado Molina in the fight for the "International" title of the WBA . In June 2018 he also became Commonwealth Champion by defeating Kris George. In April 2019 he defeated Przemysław Runowski (17-0).

In June 2019 he reached a draw against Ray Robinson (24-3).
