Carlos Amado Molina (born May 25, 1983 in Pátzcuaro ) is a Mexican professional boxer and former world champion of the IBF in the light middleweight division .

Boxing career

Molina only played seven amateur fights and had his first professional fight in October 2003 in Wisconsin . After eight wins and one defeat by opponents , he boxed on December 16, 2005 in Mexico against Julio César Chavez junior , where it came to a draw. In the rematch two months later, Molina lost just 2-1 judges' votes on points. In his next fights he was also defeated on points against Wayland Willingham and Mike Alvarado .

However, he remained undefeated in his next twelve fights, where he was able to prevail against Danny Perez and Kermit Cintrón , among others . Against Erislandy Lara , he reached a draw in March 2011. He was disqualified against James Kirkland in March 2012 because one of Molina's supervisors entered the ring too early. Although the round was officially over, Molina was still counted due to a rainfall.

With subsequent wins on points against Damian Frias and Cory Spinks , he qualified for an IBF World Championship light middleweight fight against Ishe Smith , which Molina won on September 14, 2013 on points. He lost his first title defense in October 2014 on points against Cornelius Bundrage .
