Nercely Desirée Soto Soto (born August 23, 1990 in Maracaibo ) is a Venezuelan sprinter .

Athletic career

For the first time at an international championship, Nercely Soto took part in the South American Junior Championships in 2009 in São Paulo . There she was eliminated over 100 meters in the preliminary round, took sixth place over 200 meters and fifth place with the Venezuelan relay. At the Juegos Bolivarianos in Sucre , she won the silver medal with the relay. In 2012 she was eliminated from the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto over 100 meters again in the preliminary run and was fourth in the two relays and in the 200-meter run. At the U23 South American Championships, she won gold over 200 meters and a silver medal over 400 meters. She was fourth with the 4 x 100 meter relay and disqualified in the final with the 400 meter relay. At the Olympic Games in London , she was eliminated over 200 meters in the first round . In 2013 she won the silver medal in the 200 and 400 meters at the South American Championships in Cartagena, Colombia, as well as bronze with the 4 x 100 meter relay and fourth with the 400 meter relay. She was also very successful at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Trujillo : She won gold in the 200 and 400 meters and silver in the short sprint relay.

In 2014 she won the gold medal over 200 meters and with the relay as well as the silver medal over 400 meters at the South American Games in Santiago de Chile . This year she took part in the Venezuelan 4 x 100 meter relay at the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas and was eliminated there in the heats. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Xalapa , she won gold with the relay and over 200 meters and took fourth place over 400 meters and with the relay. In 2015 she became continental champion over 200 meters and with the relay at the South American Championships in Lima and took second place in the 400-meter run and with the long sprint relay. She also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated in the first round over 200 meters . At the Pan American Games in Toronto , she reached the 200 and 400 meters and with the 4 x 400 meter relay to the semi-finals. In 2016 she won gold over 200 meters and bronze in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro . At the Olympic Games there , she reached the semi-finals over 200 meters .

In 2017 she took part in the South American Championships in Luque , where she took fourth place over 200 meters. She made it to the final over 400 meters, where she was unable to finish her race due to an injury and therefore she did not finish the race with the relay. In November she won the gold medals for the 200 and 400 meters and the 4 x 100 meter relay as well as the bronze medal with the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta .
