Felipa Palacios

Felipa Alicia Palacios Hinestroza (born December 1, 1975 in Bojayá , Chocó ) is a Colombian athlete who took part in three Olympic Games.

Athletic career

Felipa Palacios won bronze medals at the 1995 Pan American Games with both seasons. With the 4 x 100 meter relay she reached the final of the World Championships in the same year , in which the Colombians finished seventh in 44.61 seconds.

In 1999, Palacios won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg in 23.05 seconds behind Debbie Ferguson from the Bahamas and the Brazilian Lucimar Aparecida de Moura . After Palacios was eliminated at her Olympic start in 1996 both with the relay and over 200 meters in the run, she reached the semifinals in Sydney in 2000 . Four years later, she retired from the 2004 Olympic Games with the relay in the lead.

In 2005, Palacios set her personal best both over 100 meters with 11.18 seconds and over 200 meters with 22.85 seconds. At the 2005 World Championships she reached the finals again after ten years with the relay. In 43.07 seconds, Melisa Murillo , Felipa Palacios, Darlenis Obregón and Norma González took sixth place. Four years later, Palacios, Obregón and González were also part of the squadron that finished eighth in 43.43 seconds at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin .

Felipa Palacios was the Colombian national champion over 100 meters and over 200 meters in 1997. On the longer distance she won two more titles in 1999 and 2000, and in 2006 she won her second title over 100 meters. At a height of 1.65 meters, her competition weight is 56 kilograms.
