Joel González Bonilla (born September 30, 1989 in Figueres ) is a Spanish Taekwondoin . It starts in the weight class up to 68 kilograms.

González advanced to the top of the world in 2009. He became Junior European Champion in Vigo and later also surprised in the adult division when he won the World Championship title at the World Championships in Copenhagen with a final victory over Damián Villa . In the following year he was able to win the title at the European Championships in Saint Petersburg . At the 2011 World Championships in Gyeongju and the 2012 European Championships in Manchester González was able to continue his supremacy in the flyweight division and successfully defended his titles.

González reached the final at the European Olympic qualification tournament in Kazan in the weight class up to 58 kilograms in January 2012 and qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . In May 2012 it was announced that González was one of the first Taekwondoin to enter into a sponsorship deal with Nike . In London, he achieved the greatest success of his career by winning the Olympic gold medal, defeating Lee Dae-hoon in the final . In 2016 he won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with a victory over the Venezuelan Edgar Contreras .
