Zhao Shuai ( Chinese  赵 帅 ; * August 15, 1995 ) is a Chinese Taekwondoin and Olympic champion . It starts in the weight classes up to 58 kilograms and up to 63 kilograms.

Career

Zhao competed in his first international adult competition at the 2011 World Championships and, like 2013 , was eliminated in the second round. In 2011 he failed in the class up to 54 kilograms at the eventual world champion Chutchawal Khawlaor , in 2013 he lost to Hadi Mostaan in the class up to 58 kilograms. At the 2015 World Cup , he won his first medal with bronze. In the semifinals he lost to Si Mohamed Ketbi . In 2017 he became world champion in the class up to 63 kilograms after an 11: 5 final victory over Mirhashem Hosseini . He also defended this title in Manchester in 2019 .

In 2016, Zhao won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships, and he also won the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in Manila . At the games he fought his way up to the final in the class up to 58 kilograms, in which he defeated Tawin Hanprab 6: 4 and thus became Olympic champion .

He secured a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games .
