Affhöllerbach is a district of the municipality of Brensbach in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse and has around 250 inhabitants together with neighboring Kilsbach .

geography

Affhöllerbach is located in the north of the Odenwald on the upper reaches of the Affhöllerbach , which, coming from the nearby watershed of the Mümling near Böllstein , flows north-west towards the Gersprenz . While the heights above the locality are forested, large agricultural areas open up towards the Gerspenz lowlands. The district includes the hamlet of Stierbach in the south and the ruins of Schnellerts Castle on the 350 meter high mountain of the same name. The hamlet of Kilsbach is located north of the village, away from all classified paths . There is a granite quarry on the mountain ridge called Vogelherd (371 meters) on the northern boundary of the district . The highest point in the district reaches 405 meters. The road from Brensbach to Böllstein leads over this point. The Affhöllerbach district belongs geologically to the crystalline Odenwald .

Affhöllerbach is located in the Starkenburg region and in the Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park .

history

The existence of the place is documented under the name Effolderbach since 1450. Affhöllerbach belonged to the district court and the parish of Kirchbrombach and thus to the lordship of Breuberg . In 1806 the place came with the county of Erbach to the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

On the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Affhöllerbach with the hamlets of Kilsbach and Stierbach belonging to it was incorporated into Nieder-Kainsbach on February 1, 1971 on a voluntary basis . On August 1, 1972, Nieder-Kainsbach was incorporated into the municipality of Brensbach at the same time as the communities of Höllerbach , Wallbach and Wersau . After the main Statutes was for Affhöllerbach with Kilsbach local district with Ortsbeirat and Ortsvorsteher established while the integrated as before to Gemarkung Affhöllerbach counting Weiler Stiersbach in the local district low-Kainsbach.

Cultural monuments

The Schulzenhof in Affhöllerbach and several other properties are also under monument protection, as are the entire complex of the hamlet of Kilsbach and the Schnellert castle ruins.

From the nearby Nieder-Kainsbach, the district road K 81 leads east to Affhöllerbach and ends here. Affhöllerbach is connected to federal highway 38 via this neighboring town .
