Nieder-Kainsbach is a district of the municipality of Brensbach in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse . Nieder-Kainsbach has around 750 inhabitants together with the neighboring Stierbach .

geography

location

Nieder-Kainsbach is located in the northern Odenwald at the confluence of the Kainsbach in the Gersprenz .

Surrounded by fertile arable soils and deep meadows in the Gersprenzauen , the village is located with a small industrial park in the Gersprenztal in the Starkenburg region and in the Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park and belongs to the nature reserve of the same name.

structure

The district consists of the villages Nieder-Kainsbach and Stierbach. The district area of the village covers 226 hectares .

Geology, climate

The district of Brensbach with the districts Nieder-Kainsbach and Stierbach belongs geologically to the crystalline Odenwald and is divided into two main units, the Reinheimer Hügelland and the Vorderen Odenwald .

The areas on both sides of the Gersprenz appear as young high-tide deposits, consisting of clay, sand and gravel.

The area of the municipality of Brensbach is assigned to the cool temperate or warm temperate rain climate according to Köppen. Compared to other low mountain regions, the climate is less harsh.

history

There are few facts about the earliest origins, although the closer environment to Nieder-Kainsbach is mentioned as early as 1012. The current place name is likely to be derived from Cuningesbach , via Kunspach and Nydern-Konspach .

For the first time the place in 1012 is mentioned as the Lorsch codex in describing a Wildbann limit the name Cuningesbach appears. It is uncertain whether it is the settlement or the stream. In 1384 the village emerges a little more clearly from the darkness of its past. A fiefdom stored in the Darmstadt State Archives says that Schenk Heinrich von Erbach received half of the village "Kunspach" from the Fulda monastery as a fief . At this point in time, Nieder-Kainsbach was already divided in terms of land ownership, with the Dorfbach forming the border. Half with 3½ hubs belonged to the Fulda Abbey, while the other part consisted of an estate and belonged to the Lorsch Monastery and the Counts of Katzenelnbogen.

The church and patronage rights had exercised the Erbacher counts since 1424 and Nieder-Kainsbach was "parish" in Brensbach, where the common mother church and the cemetery were used earlier. In 1443 Count Palatine Ludwig has sovereignty over the Fulda part, which half of the village "Konßpach" had given to Schenk Otto von Erbach. In 1455 the village was first named "Nydern-Konspach" in a document and the original 3½ Huben have meanwhile been divided into 14 smaller Hubengüter. When the von Katzenelnbogen family of counts died out , in 1476 the part of the village with the estate came to the Landgraves of Darmstadt and was administered from Lichtenberg.

With the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, all previous property rights were dissolved and the county of Erbach including Nieder-Kainsbach was incorporated into Hesse . A census was carried out and the Grand Ducal Mayor of Nieder-Kainsbach reported 226 residents who lived in 42 houses. From 1852 to 1874 the village was assigned to the Lindenfels district and was then again administered by the Erbach district.

Nieder-Kainsbach was connected to the railway line of the Reinheim-Reichelsheimer Railway from October 10, 1887 to August 1964, both with a stop and the Nieder-Kainsbach - Fränkisch-Crumbach train station .

On the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse on February 1, 1971, the municipality of Affhöllerbach with the hamlets of Kilsbach and Stierbach belonging to it was incorporated into Nieder-Kainsbach on a voluntary basis. On August 1, 1972 the incorporation of the enlarged community together with Höllerbach, Wallbach and Wersau into the community of Brensbach took place by law . According to the main statute, two local districts with local advisory council and local councilor were set up in the area of the incorporated community , namely one for Nieder-Kainsbach with Stierbach, and one for Affhöllerbach with Kilsbach.

population

About 750 people live in Nieder-Kainsbach, the vast majority (64 percent) belong to the Protestant church . The proportion of foreign residents in the total number of residents is relatively low at three percent.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Nieder-Kainsbach

The heraldic artist Ritt from Bad-Nauheim had designed a coat of arms for the Nieder-Kainsbach community in 1964 in collaboration with the Hessian State Archives in Darmstadt . It was approved by the local council as it was satisfactory in every respect from the heraldic point of view. On June 1, 1965, the municipality of Nieder-Kainsbach in what was then the district of Erbach was awarded this coat of arms with the following blazon : In red, a silver bar with a continuous simple black cross, accompanied by three silver six-pointed stars (2: 1).

meaning

The simple black cross refers to the old Fulda fiefdom property of the municipality of Nieder-Kainsbach and the six-pointed stars reflect the earlier affiliation to the county of Erbach .

Economy and Infrastructure

Nieder-Kainsbach, a small village with still agricultural character, is located in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse and has been part of the Brensbach community since 1972, together with the so-called place of residence Stierbach .

Due to the structural change with its negative side effects, especially in rural areas, many residents are forced to commute every day and sometimes cover considerable distances to get to their workplaces in the conurbations in the Rhine-Main area . However, Nieder-Kainsbach was spared the often associated development into a pure “sleeping village”. A large part of the fact that the social cohesion in Nieder-Kainsbach works, certainly also has the distinctive club life. Whole families are often active in several associations and thus contribute directly to maintaining the village community. Coexistence in Nieder-Kainsbach has remained intact despite the far-reaching change.
