João Paulo Andrade (born June 6, 1981 in Leiria ) is a Portuguese football player . He has been under contract with Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus since summer 2012 .
Career
The defender began playing football in the youth department of União Leiria , a football club from his hometown, and joined the first team playing in the SuperLiga in the 1999/2000 season , but did not play a league game here. After his first season in the top Portuguese league, he was loaned to União Tomar in the summer of 2000 and returned to União Leiria after a year in the summer of 2001.
In early 2003, Andrade moved to league rivals Sporting Lisbon during the season , but returned to Leiria in the summer of the same year and stayed here until the end of the 2005/06 season. For the following season 2006/07 Andrade was transferred to FC Porto . There he was able to win the Portuguese championship twice, but only made ten appearances in two years. In the summer of 2008 he was loaned to Rapid Bucharest in Romania. After his return, he signed the French first division UC Le Mans in the summer of 2009 , with whom he had to relegate at the end of the 2009/10 season . Andrade returned to Vitória Guimarães in Portugal. Two years later he moved to Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus.
Andrade has been appointed to the Portugal U21 national team several times.
