Flavio Marazzi

Flavio Marazzi (born February 7, 1978 in Bern ) is a Swiss sailor . Together with Enrico De Maria he sails as a skipper in the Starboat class.

Marazzi started sailing at the age of six and won his first regatta , the Swiss Championship in Neuchâtel in 1992 . Together with his brother Renato, he took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and reached 15th place. Four years later, Enrico De Maria took over the job of the bowman . Second in the 2004 World Cup, they qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympics . In Athens they just missed an Olympic medal in fourth place. In 2006 they finished seventh in the world championship, in 2007 they won the European championship gold medal. At the 2008 Olympic sailing competitions in Qingdao , they came in fifth.

Flavio Marazzi was also world champion in the non-Olympic 5.5 m class in 2004, 2006 and 2007 . He is also an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
