Květoslav Svoboda (born August 25, 1982 in Znojmo ) is a former Czech freestyle swimmer . He took part in three Olympic Games . In 2002 he became vice world champion in the 400 m freestyle on the short course. Four times he achieved the title of Vice European Champion on the 200 m short course.

Svoboda had his Olympic appearances in 2000 , 2004 and 2008 . He was the flag bearer of the Czech Olympic team in Athens in 2004.

Svoboda's greatest success was second place at the 2002 Short Course World Championships in Moscow in 3: 41.97 minutes behind the Australian Grant Hackett (3: 38.29).

At the 2000 European Short Course Championships in Valencia he was defeated in the 200 m in 1: 45.27 to the Italian Massimiliano Rosolino (1: 44.63), who also won the 400 m in 3: 39.59 on which Svoboda in 3: 47.36 was third. In 2001 in Antwerp, Pieter van den Hoogenband was in a European record time (1: 42.46) Svoboda's success (1: 44.78) in the way and in 2002 Emiliano Brembilla (1: 45.39), Svoboda were six hundredths of a second missing (1: 45.45 ). In 2003 in Dublin Svoboda again lost out to van den Hoogenband (1: 41.89, again a European record) and the gap was again clear with a time of 1: 44.56. As a consolation there was another bronze over 400 m behind Juri Prilukow and Massimiliano Rosolino.

Svoboda is politically active in Občanská Demokratieická strana (ODS) and ran for the municipal parliament in his hometown of Znojmo in 2010 and 2014 ; In 2010 he was elected.
